Gumboot Throwing!

I was backing into my driveway  on a fine Friday
afternoon when I saw a small white thing sticking out of
my letter box. I parked the car and walked over. I opened
up the letterbox and out slid a white piece of paper. I red
it in my head. This is what it said.

Gumboot throwing challenge

Saturday afternoon 1st December 1:00pm at Hagley Park.
Come and do the gumboot throwing,For the winner you
get a golden gumboot trophy.

I raced into the house and slammed the door shut behind
me. ¨I so need to do this¨ I yelled. I raced into the garage
and picked up my black gumboot and scuttled out to the backyard.
I practiced throwing the gumboot until I felt tired. The the
next morning I signed up for the competition online.
Then it came to 12:30 and I jumped into the car and zoomed off for an awesome day. When it finally came to
1:00pm there was a loud speaker blasting across the huge
green field. It said ¨up first is Sophie Baxter.¨ I watched
a beautiful strong girl walk onto the field. She picked up
a black gumboot with a white soul. She threw it 38.7
meters. All of the competitors were amazing. ¨Last but
not least we have Adelaide Geldard. I carefully walked
up to the gumboot and picked it up up. I threw it as hard
as I could and it landed standing up. A tall man walked
up to me and said “You threw the gumboot 50.2 meters.
30 minutes later everyone sat down on the grass and
waited for  man to announce the winner “And the
winner is Adelaide Geldard” I screamed my head off as i walked up to the golden trophy and heaved it into my
hands. The next morning I lay in bed with the trophy
next to me. “That was amazing” I whispered.

A&P Show

A&P Show

The A&P show is an amazing and interesting place for the
whole family to go and visit for a whole day of fun.

You should check out the A&P show because it is lots of
fun and you can learn about animals and lots of other
things.

At the A&P show there are heaps of animals. There are
horses that you can watch racing and their are farmyard
animals. The coolest animals are the horses with the
silky clean skin,the fluffiest black bunny in the world
and the creamy white coated goats snuggled next to their
adorable kids.

The main area is the TipTop family lawn with amazing
country singers on a huge black stage. Around the Tip
Top family lawn there are lots of free stuff like tattoes,
fans,lollies and other food.

So come and check out the A&P show every year and
experience the exciting fun!

Fireworks Opinion

Fireworks Opinion

I strongly think that we shouldn't sell fireworks in shops and you should
only use them for displays. I feel this way because it scares animals.

One story that shows how dangerous home fireworks can be is when a
girl and her family were supposed to do fireworks but then her dad was
late at work so she got impatient and tried to do some little fireworks
herself,but when they wouldn't light she ran u to them and they exploded
and she lost one of her fingers.Last year there were 900 injuries due to
home fireworks.

Lots of pets get injured because they get scared and then they run onto
the road and get run over.

New Zealand does not need to have fireworks on a British event day like
Guy Fawkes Day. We should have fireworks sold on a day important to New
Zealand like New Year's day, Birthdays, Christmas and other special
occasions.

The cost of a bag of fireworks from The Warehouse is $35   This bag only
contains 20 fireworks. Families should spend that money on their rent.

New Zealand does not need to have fireworks on a British event day like
Guy Fawkes Day. We should have fireworks sold on a day important to New
Zealand like New Years night and also Birthdays and Christmas.

Out of a population of 4.7 million people there were only 20,000 injuries
per year.Only people who are stupid using fireworks get hurt.  For example
one time this guy was walking along the side of the road and lit a firework
into the bush. Then all of a sudden the fireworks exploded and he lost one
hand.

So, for all of these obvious and clear reasons, I strongly feel that fireworks
should not be sold in shops and should not be used in people's backyard.

Scarlet And Ivy

Typhoons

My task was to make a slide about a typhoons and all the information about typhoons.
We had make a slide with pictures, and slide with, videos, a slide with facts, a slide with maps and a slide with sites :)
 I really enjoyed this because i really want to learn more about typhoons. I think the most interesting part was that when we were learning about typhoons there was a massive typhoon in Japan

Malakai Fekitoa was playing for the All Blacks when he left to play for RC
Toulonnais in France. Malakai Fekitoa grew up in Tonga,Haʻapai.

Malakai Fekitoa was born on the 10th May 1992.

Malakai’s Childhood

Malakai Fekitoa has been to 3 schools.Tonga College ,

Wesley Collegeand Liahona College.Tonga College was made in 1978. Tonga College is in Nuku'alofa, Tongatapu, Tonga. Malakai Fekitoa.Wesley College was made in 1844. Wesley College is in in Auckland. Eni Fekitoa is Malakai’s dad and Malakai’s mother is Meleane Fekitoa. Malakai Fekitoa was born in Tonga. Malakai Fekitoa is an only child.

Malakai’s Adulthood(Current Life)

Malakai Fekitoa was in the all blacks team and he is now in France

playing for RC Toulonnais. Malakai Fekitoa was offered a rugby

scholarship and enrolled at Wesley College. Malakai Fekitoa has no

wife and no kids. Malakai Fekitoa was a member of the winning

Highlanders side, and of the 2015 Rugby World Cup winning

New Zealand side. Malakai Fekitoa played for the Highlanders

in the Super Rugby competition.

Path to success

Malakai started playing rugby at middle school and got in a team.
Malakai Fekitoa played for the blues in 2013 and then played for the
Highlanders in 2014 super rugby and then he played for the All Blacks.
Malakai Fekitoa got offered a scholarship and he became a rugby player
when he then became an All Black.

Hometown,Country

Malakai Fekitoa lives in auckland but is now in france.

Personal Thoughts

I think that Malakai Fekitoa is a very good rugby player and I think he is very
nice. Malakai is very good at rugby. I think that Malakai Fekitoa should get
three trophies.

The Secret Island

The Secret Island

As Ivy ,Evie and Ava drifted off into the ocean waving goodbye to their parents
the wind swooshed them far out into the ocean with their parents out of sight.

Evie swished her golden long hair away from her face so her sparkling blue
eyes could see where they were going. Evie got her hair stuck in Ava’s coco
brown hair and she pulled it out of the way.

They were drifting out into the ocean to go fishing for bluegills. The girls
loved fishing. Ivy, Ava and Evie grabbed their brown fishing rods and then
flung them out into the ocean.  

A few minutes later Ivy was tugging on her rod.¨This is a big one!¨she yelled
over the splashing rainbow fish in the water. Ivy tugged as hard as she could.
Her medium ash brown hair dipped a little bit into the water before tugging
out a rainbow trout.

Soon they were sailing peacefully on the ocean with a bucket full of bluegills.
They decided that they will move on to another spot and then later on they
would go back. Ava and Evie tried to lift up the anchor from the bottom of the
sea and managed to get it up on the boat by the big bucket full of bluegills and
suddenly the waves started getting bumpy.

More and more and then suddenly there was thunder and lightning and then
the boat started swaying up and down and side to side. “HELP!!!!!!!!! I DON'T
´WANT TO DIE!!!!!!!” Ivy Screamed. Ava fell out of the boat into the swaying
ocean above her. Evie looked over the side of the boat hanging on with all her
might trying to look for Ava. You could clearly tell she was crying.  Just then
she loosened her grip and fell into the cold freezing water and now only Ivy was
in the orange boat. She grabbed with all her might to stay on the boat but it was
no use. She was screaming and screaming until she stayed silent. She could hear
something. Something that sounded like the boat had popped and was loosing
air. She felt the inflatable sandstone boat as her hand fell deep into the boat.
The boat had popped. She loosened her grip and fell into the water with the
boat floating silently away.

1 day later out of the blue Evie woke up,looked around and straight away knew
where she was. They were on a tropical island.  But where was Ivy and Ava.
They had to be there somewhere. Evie lay down for a bit trying to get all the
water out of her body. She sat back up and raced over to where Ava was lying
down . She looked like she was dead.¨Ava, Ava wake up quickly!¨Evie shreaked.
Unexpectedly Ava opened her eyes to the sight of tears dripping on her nose.
They quickly raced over to Ivy and woke her up and they walked away.

1 hour later Ava,Evie and Ivy were surrounded by millions of coconut trees.
But the thought that was running through all their heads was how would they
get back. Instantly Ivy had an amazing idea. They would make a big sign that
said HELP out of sand.

30 minutes later Ivy was lying on the sand getting a suntan waiting for someone
to come.Out of  nowhere something started buzzing like crazy.Ivy just thought
it was a bee and lay back down.Ava and Evie came running back from playing
tag. “IVY IVY” I hear something what if it’s a helicopter.Ivy Jumped up
instantly and started
searching the sky. I see a orange thing coming towards us.”YAY YAY YAY we
are going to be SAVED!”Evie screamed.The orange looking thing was coming
towards us and Immediately landed on the hot boiling cider sand with sand
blowing everywhere in their eyes.

Half and hour later they were at home hugging their parent's and telling them
all about it.

“THAT WAS AMAZING” they all yelled!

This week we are reading a bit of a laugh.

It is about when Justin and this other boy(Don´t know his name) met Miles that was a boy from his
school and he is science mad and he makes everyone laugh. Then it reminded Great Grandad about
another person called Eddie and his was unusual. Their Great Grandad said that he met him in the
second world war. When everyone wasn't working they just sat around or  go to town and dance or go
to the movies but Eddie didn't like to do that. He would always get his push bike and bike to Mount
Taranaki and stop at the end of the path and climb up and then down the path and then ride on his push
bike back home. Justin and the other boy and Great Grandad found out that he was the first person to
climb Mount Everest and his real name was Edmund Hillary.

German shepards are a lovely breed of dog.The are very friendly and love humans.German Shepherds can live up to 10 to 14 years.

What are German shepherds used for?
German Shepherds were first used as sheep dogs in Germany.
Some German shepherds are trained for military dogs. Military dogs are used to sniff out bombs and other things like that. Other German Shepherds are used for search and rescue dogs. Search and rescue dogs help to rescue and find people that have been wounded or badly hurt. Other German Shepherds are used for airport dogs.Airport dogs sniff out drugs and metal things at the airport when you go through security and they also chase people that are being naughty.

What do German Shepherds eat?
Lots of German Shepherds eat a lot of dog food and meat.You should feed your dog 1 time a day. (If puppy 3-4 times a day). German shepherds eat eggs a lot but if you give them too much they will become sick.German Shepherds love cooked fish but same as the eggs if you give them too much then they will become sick.

Where do German Shepherds live?
Most German Shepherds live with people in houses. But they need a lot of grass to play and run around in. German Shepherds originated from Germany.

What do German Shepherds look like?
Lots of German Shepherds are really big. Female dogs can grow up to 53.34 centremetres tall and for males they can grow up to 55–60 cm. German Shepherds are usually a mid brown colour with a dark sky black.  Most German Shepherds have white bits under their chin.
